Komatsu Residences
Our most popular machiya for long-term stays. Combining traditional craftsmanship with modern Japanese elegance, this townhouse in the historic district of Gion is divided into four apartments suitable for singles, couples or groups of up to 4 adults. Take the tour here.

The Lounge at West Kujo
A newly refurbished machiya within walking distance of Kyoto Station, a hub of bus and rail connections as well as shops and eateries. Located in a quiet neighbourhood, this townhouse can host up to 2 adults but the dining table is large enough to seat 6, making it a perfect workspace. Take the tour here.

BenTen Residences
This pair of 100-year-old houses, the flagship property of the Shimaya Stays Collection, has been featured in Architecture Daily, Dwell and Lonely Planet Magazine UK (“100 incredible places to wake up in”, October 2019).
